Some commonly asked questions

What’s happening with the clubhouse?
Drawings are well underway with works to commence in 2012. The clubhouse is a simplistic and practical design but will incorporate all the necessary features to adequately cater for member and visitor requirements, and will incorporate great views over the course.

Are any further works planned for the golf course?
Our first priority was to reconnect to the recycled water supply and now that has been accomplished work will shortly commence on the construction of a driving range. Ongoing works are also planned to improve and extend the current cart path system ensuring it blends into the course contours and makes walking the course a little easier.

Is the 2nd course going to be built and will this membership have access to it?
There is much excitement and anticipation with the prospect of another championship course of world class standing being built on the Mornington Peninsula. A number of options are currently being considered as to how the development will move forward however at this point in time no firm direction has been decided upon. On that basis the Gunnamatta Course membership has been set up independently and it is unlikely that access to the new course will be available as part of this membership.

Can the fees be paid off?
Yes, both the club administration fee and purchase of all categories of Gunnamatta Passes can be paid off over 6 monthly instalments. The passes cover the twelve month period commencing October 1 and expire on September 30.  If you were to join now payment of the six instalments ($370 for Peak and $250 for Off Peak) would commence immediately with no further payments due until October 1, 2012.

Is Gunnamatta Golf Club an official golf club?
Yes the club is incorporated with an executive committee in place with the major difference being that unlike the traditional golf club it does not own assets and is not responsible for any aspects of golf course management or operation. The primary objective of the club was to negotiate access rights and the cost of these rights with the golf course owners and the ongoing role of the club will be to provide members with affiliation to governing golf bodies and handicapping through the provision of competition golf.

What’s happening with the condominiums and accommodation?
A number of the existing apartments are being refurbished and when completed will be offered as overnight rental accommodation for those wishing to stay and play. Members will have access to introductory and privilege offers that will provide incredible value. Over a number of stages up to 120 apartments and a 40 room boutique hotel can be built on the property, with Stage 2 a second pod of 20 apartments currently in the planning stage and again members will receive ‘privileged access’ to purchase these fantastic apartments which will provide a great holiday lifestyle with the opportunity to earn income by renting them out.

Will the current operation continue to be financially viable?
The new owners have a vastly different approach to the original developers in regard to the golf operation and the resort development and have a low debt to equity gearing. The management group operating the venue on behalf of the ownership group has a high ethical reputation and impeccable credit rating, a position it has earned over 25 years involvement in the running both private and public golf courses. In a year of unfavourable weather conditions visitations to the course continue to grow and with a ranking of 10 in Australia and a growing reputation, exciting times are ahead.
